I could have kissed Abdul the Toshiba repair man. Don't worry...a wedding isn't coming, but Abdul made me a happy woman on Thursday when he repaired my computer and restored all my important data! Hallelujah! My brain is back! (Those of you interested in seeing my brain, it's pictured at right.)It's amazing how dependant upon computers we have become. Not only do we store all of our work data, but photos, contacts with people (gone are the days of a paper address & telephone book), memories, journals, research, etc., etc. To help me keep all this vital information, I went out and purchased an external hard drive to back up EVERYTHING. Not just the normal things like finances and documents...but EVERYTHING. I had planned to do this, but the computer crashed the week before I had time.
So, what have I learned from this? Several things...
1) BACKUP! And do this often.
2) Computers consume too much of my time. Yes...it may be my brain, but not having a computer at home has really been quite nice.
3) We are not so advanced with technology that we should throw away paper. When I thought everything was lost, I was so happy that I had printed out my Master's Dissertation!
4) Prayer works...even for computers. You may think I'm crazy, but I believe in the power of prayer, and believe that a prayer offered in faith to the almighty God works! (I even anointed my computer with oil....some said that could have caused the problem - but it was only a little bit of oil!) I am so glad that God is concerned about every aspect of our lives...including my brain!
Take care and thanks again for praying for me...and my computer! Have a great weekend.
