Merry Christmas!

Wishing all of you a wonderful Christmas. Whether you spend time with family, friends, neighbors, or strangers - I pray that you feel the warmth and joy that only Jesus can bring.

Here's my Christmas update highlighting events from this fall as I work with the Assemblies of God in Europe. I am grateful for the opportunity to train missionaries, serve Europe, and partner with you to share the Love of Jesus with those who have not heard.

May the Lord bless you abundantly this Christmas and in 2015.

It's the most wonderful time, of the year....

I love Christmas because of Jesus. Its not because of the presents, or the shopping, or even the time with family. I love my time with my family, but the real reason that we celebrate Christmas is to commemorate the arrival of the Messiah to live on the earth and redeem His people. The Old Testament prophets foretold his coming, Isaiah proclaimed his miraculous birth, the Wise Men saw his star, shepherd's witnessed an angel proclaiming his arrival, and Mary & Joseph welcomed their son, God's son, our Saviour to be Immanuel, God with us.

Thank you Jesus for coming to earth and identifying with us in every way.

Thank you Jesus for healing us, saving us, redeeming us, and giving your life for us.

Jesus didn't only come for the Christians of the world, but for all mankind. He is our Hope! 

If you don't know the Hope that Jesus brings, I pray that you will be like the wise men and seek him and the shepherds who worshipped him. If you seek him you will find him, and if you find him, your life will never be the same! He is the Messiah and longs for you to spend eternity with him.

Merry Christmas to you all! May the Hope of Jesus fill every part of your life this year.

It's November...but the Christmas tree is up!

I love Christmas! I'm especially loving it this year because "I'll be home for Christmas..." (insert your own music here). Thanks to frequent flyer miles and CTS Christmas break, I'm visiting my family this year for the holidays. It will be 15 months since seeing my family and I can't wait to be with them - especially my nieces and nephews. I have 7 of them and we are planning a huge Auntie Shannon Slumber Party. That is of course, if I bring home waffles.

Recently while on the phone with my 9 year old nephew, Grant, he informed me that it was nice that I was coming home, but if I didn't bring Belgian waffles, I really shouldn't come home. It's always nice to know you are loved for who you are and not for how many waffles made it through customs! We'll see what that kid gets for Christmas this year!!

I like to leave Christmas decorations up for a month, so this week I put up the tree. I am planning a get-together with students & friends soon, so the decorating is for them as well, but I also started listening to Christmas music. I guess it's never too early to begin celebrating Christmas. I love the lights and decor and snowmen, but I love more the fact that if it were not for Jesus coming into this world 2000 years ago, I wouldn't be where I am, and wouldn't have the greatest story ever told to tell to a world that needs the Love of God that was sent to us through Jesus. All this to say - let's start celebrating Christmas in November...and continue it throughout the year.
