Well, if you track
my life & my newsletters you will have seen that my time in the beautiful
United Kingdom has come to a close. I experienced some issues with visa & immigration, which led to a decision to cancel my visa. I'll be
returning to the US temporarily, while continuing to serve the Assemblies of
God in Europe. I'll be back in this area before we know it! I can't wait to see where God leads me as I continue to train,
mentor, and make disciples in this beautiful part of the world.
You can read more
about my departure in my recent e-news update. I'll be sending more
information out after I return to the US. For now I am busy finalizing the
packing of my belongs and moving back to the US. Thanks for your prayers.
As I was
reflecting on my time here, I came up with a few favorite things about
living the UK and thought you might enjoy them!
Ten things I will
miss about the UK - (in no particular order...)
1) Being called
"love" or "duck" by the cashier at the grocery store.
2)
Free health care.
3) Hanging my wash out on the line (guess I could do that in
the US!).
4) Being able to watch Downton Abbey before everyone in the US!
5)
The Great British Bake Off - love that show!!
6) My neighbor, Roy. He always
brings my rubbish bin to the house after collection & watches my
house when I'm gone. Is that a good neighbor, or what?
7) My wonderful
colleagues & students and special friends made while serving at
Mattersey Hall.
8) My new spiritual family at Hope Church in Rotherham.
9) My
little village of Sutton-cum-Lound....including the village footpaths.
10)
Driving on the "correct" side of the road.
And... a bonus miss...
And... a bonus miss...
11)
MUSHY PEAS!
And, as
Shakespeare wrote,
"Parting is such sweet sorrow,
That I shall say good
night till it be morrow."
Romeo &
Juliet, Act 2, Scene 2
