Flower Carpet in Brussels

Tragically, it's been two weeks since my last post. Obviously, I've been quite busy - running from CTS to home. Working the conference, unpacking boxes, trying to get organized. The way the stress has settled in my neck makes me wonder if I really was in France on vacation just two 2 short weeks ago. However, this is the nature of missions, and the important thing is that each of us takes the time we need to relax when we can.

And one of the fun things about relaxing, is seeing the special things about Europe. For instance, this weekend on the Brussels square (the Grand Place), it's Flower Carpet time! Read more about the history of this beautiful highlight of summer (or every other summer that is...it only takes place every 2 years!).
A few of the staff and I took our summer student workers downtown on Thursday, but only saw the grass that was laid for the carpet. I hope to get back to the Grand Place this week to see this amazing carpet made completely of begonias! The photo is from 2004 when the carpet was Art Nouveau. This year it's a kaleidoscope.

Be watching this week for an updated blog and photo of the new addition coming to my apartment on Tuesday! I'm very excited....
